During tough questioning from Senators Biden and Feingold today, General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker admit, despite their best attempts to downplay, that al Qaeda’s main base of operation and greatest threat comes from Pakistan and Afghanistan; not Iraq.
Joe Biden & Russ Feingold are my heroes right now…in one fell swoop (er, two fell swoops) they extract, directly from the horse’s mouth, the truth: that our misadventure in Iraq is a policy of retreat from the people who attacked us on 9/11, and since one of Osama bin Laden’s aims is for the United States to get bogged down in the Middle East, well, then it seems like Bush, Cheney, McCain, Lindsey Graham, Joe Lieberman, et al. are playing right into his hands.

He didn’t admit crap. He basically spun it that since we have been in Iraq, doing our crap, Al Quacky is basically destroyed there now, and is a bigger threat in the Afgan Paki area, which it should be.
So now…it’s time to be done with Iraq, and on with Pakistan!
How’s that for a take?

it’s time to leave Iraq completely and refocus our efforts against al-Qaeda along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, let the Iraqis start to sort their country out (and yes, it’s going to include violence…but that’s just the way it is. it sucks. we did it. and we can’t fix it…their sectarian issues will be there waiting whenever we leave. the question is how many more Americans die in the meantime.)
and honestly, Afghanistan is a failed-state now anyway…because we retreated.

Because honestly? We focused way more on Iraq….
And Al Quack0rz wasn’t that bad there. And heck, we KNOW Bumblin Bin Laden ain’t in Iraq.
I wonder if anyone cares about getting that man? Or killing the biggest part of Al Qaeda?

“Al Qaeda in Iraq” wasn’t in Iraq before we got there!
and really, we’ve sorta had an idea where bin Laden was all along, but we cozied up to Musharraf, that duplicitous ass, against the advice of most of the “crazy left-wing” and look where that got us.
