Petraeus 3 – John McCain, you’re getting a bit ridiculous.

is it that he’s senile? for the umpteen millionth time, he’s confused the Shi’a and Sunni Muslims, and shown that he doesn’t even understand what’s actually going on over there…who’s fighting who, who’s affiliated with who…this is fucking pathetic, people. as Crooks and Liars notes:

I can’t figure out if he’s doing this because he’s too stupid to learn and educate himself or if he buys into the Rovian theory that if you stubbornly keep repeating something over and over that eventually, it’s accepted as the truth. Either way, is that the kind of Commander-in-Chief we need after Bush?

here’s the exchange:

MCCAIN: Do you still view al Qaeda in Iraq as a major threat?

PETRAEUS: It is still a major threat, though it is certainly not as major a threat as it was say 15 months ago.

MCCAIN: Certainly not an obscure sect of the Shi’ites overall?

PETREAUS: No.

MCCAIN: Or Sunnis or anybody else.

and here’s the video:

  1. I feel like I’m walking through a dark alley and I’m jumping at every sound! Anyone who thought or thinks that the Kerds, Sunnis, and Shiites can live together under a central democracy should be removed from office and tested for drugs.

As Letterman mused, John McCain looks like your grandfather who gets confused about the automatic doors at the grocery store. George Bush used 9/11 as a smokescreen to invade Iraq and now the entire region is a tinderbox. And the democrats are self destructing because the Clintons will continue to practice the political equivelant of the scorched earth policy in order to get Hillary nominated.

Of course, as one who doesn’t vote or care, I enjoy the political theatre!

OK, I’m closing my eyes and backing out carefully. Thanks, Evan. :)

    yes.

    why don’t you vote again?

  3. I am totally nonpolitical. I’m a bit of a gnostic as well. Politics is a dirty business, spending obscene amounts of money, obscene amounts of lying, obscene amounts of bragadocia, obscene amounts of stupidity, obscene amounts of manipulation, obscene amounts of propaganda, and obscene amounts of goofball voters who haven’t got a clue which is…well…all of them.

Did I mention that I don’t vote?? (backing out again, I hope no one saw me!!)

haha, i’m a bit of a Gnostic TOO!

this isn’t politics, though, except for when they make it politics.

this is what we’re doing to the world.
