7 minutes, 21 seconds

That’s how long it takes to show, in video form, exactly how fucking stupid the American media is, and how fucking stupid you are if you allow them to sweep you up in their sensationalistic bullshit.

Watch Wesley Clark’s comments from last week, wherein he, a much more experienced military man, pointed out that John McCain’s getting shot down and captured in Vietnam, while heroic service indeed, is not a qualification to hold the highest office in the land. (NO SHIT!) Then watch the rest of the montage, where idiots from CNN to Fox & Friends to Laura Ingraham (honey, your closet door is gaping wide open, by the way) can’t even wrap their puny little peaskull heads around the meaning of Wesley Clark’s comments, much less listen to the sensible voices trying to explain things to them very slowly. This video is really painful if you have a brain, so fair warning.

The Poor Man Institute explains, again, VERY SLOWLY, why Clark’s comments are, indeed, true, and really actually quite easy to understand:

…[T]his is all self-evidently true. Having one’s plane shot down does not make one a statesman. Sitting in Vietnamese prison does not teach one how to create and execute policy. How could it? If you doubt me, consider: John McCain’s foreign policy is identical to the failed foreign policy we have followed for the past eight years, a policy crafted by a guy who steadfastly avoided service in Vietnam (or, for that matter, Texas.) One can’t be a great statesman and policy guru AND crib everything from the worst, most unpopular president in American history. You can’t be a great foreign policy mind AND an idiot. You would have to be an idiot to think otherwise. You would have to be a respected pundit.

Exactly. Overpaid hacks, all of them.

(Except Rachel Maddow. But she’s really not part of Teh Pundit’s Club, is she? Nope.)
