Barbara Boxer on Sarah Palin

Hi-larious:

The vice president is a heartbeat away from becoming president, so to choose someone with not one hour’s worth of experience on national issues is a dangerous choice.

If John McCain thought that choosing Sarah Palin would attract Hillary Clinton voters, he is badly mistaken.

The only similarity between her and Hillary Clinton is that they are both women. On the issues, they could not be further apart.

Sen. McCain had so many other options if he wanted to put a woman on his ticket, such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison or Sen. Olympia Snowe — they would have been an appropriate choice compared to this dangerous choice.

In addition, Sarah Palin is under investigation by the Alaska state legislature, which makes this more incomprehensible.

My goodness.

More hilarious reactions from Democratic leaders here.

Also read this one about “The VP Choice that Lost the Presidency”:

In choosing Sarah Palin of Alaska for Vice President, the Republicans have made a cynical but clever choice. At least they think it is clever. She is a woman, young (44 years old), a Governor (only two years), a mother (five children), pro-life, and pro-gun. But what is she not? She is NOT pro-choice. She has NO national experience. She has never been under the intense scrutiny of a national campaign. She is under investigation for some incident in Alaska that is messy and personal. She has no international experience. Her experience governing is in a very small state, famous for its “Bridge to Nowhere” kind of political graft. Her Republican colleague in that state, Senator Ted Stevens has been indicted for corruption.

When Republicans and independents go into the voting booth, will they have the confidence to vote for a McCain-Palin ticket, knowing that John McCain has had several recurrences of his skin cancer, and will be the oldest President ever? Can they imagine Sarah Palin stepping into the Oval Office and dealing with all the problems we face right now? The Russians and the terrorists must be quaking in their boots.

Haha, yep. Now Joe Biden on the other hand…

McCain was desperate for Hillary people. I look at experience. She has none. I worry if something were to happen to McCain she would become president. To me, experience is extremely important. I shudder at the thought that she would be the one making decisions in a crisis which our country will no doubt face. I have always been for Obama as I feel he is the best hope for this country. I hope the women who supported Hillary will realize this horrible choice for a VP and vote for Obama. Employers look for experience on a resume when people apply for jobs. I think McCain is out of touch with reality.

  2. Yep.

This was nothing but a desperate hail Mary. Unfortunately for McCain moderate women, with the exception of about 5 PUMA’s are smarter than that.

  3. The responses to Palin from Boxer and the Obama camp are both unfair and misleading. Did it occur to anyone that this choice has less to do with sex than her stances on issues? Her fiscal conservatism and stance on earmarks shores up many concerns within the base about McCain. Further, doesn’t it seem rather ill-advised to attack Palin on the basis of her lack of experience, especially consdering Obama’s remarks during the DNC about change coming to Washingtong and not from it?

  4. Fail.

If you really this this had to do with issues, you’ve jumped the shark.

The woman has NO experience beyond running a state a quarter the size of Brooklyn for a year and a half. Her foreign policy knowledge/experience is laughable. She will shore up idiots on the far-right, sure. They don’t look for people who know how to govern. But moderates? Kiss ‘em the fuck goodbye.

I cannot WAIT for the anti-woman to try to debate Joe Biden.

  5. *If you really THINK this had to do with issues…

    Posse Protects Palin…..

If she is not fit to speak to the press how in G-ds name is she fit to lead this country?

This would be laughable if it wasn’t so frightening.

The Republicans will do anything to try to win an election, but they are a complete failure at governing.

    Barack Obama 08

  7. yep, the only, only, ONLY people i’ve spoken to who are smitten with her are the people who’d already declared themselves mcbutterscotch supporters. yes, they are the only ones who think this was a good strategy. and when i show them examples of how poorly thought out this decision was for his campaign, they usually go silent and walk away so they can talk about me, the liberal, behind my back. bring on the veep debate (which i’m assuming will be sponsored by pitbull lipstick & sassy lady monthly)
