Cindy McCain repeats stupid claim that Palin somehow knows foreign policy because Alaska is next to Russia
Granted, it’s one of the most sparsely populated parts of Russia…and just a year and a half ago, Sarah Palin was mayor of some caribou and a mooseburger.
Steve Doocy said it, and Jon Stewart quite rightly called him a moron.
And now here’s Cindy making the same argument to Snufffleupagus:
(h/t Political Animal)
What’s funny, though, is that liberals were already making fun of such a claim in a “Haha they can’t possibly be that stupid!” sort of way on Friday:
On Friday, my friend Kevin Drum came up with a clever little way to preemptively mock Republicans’ claims about Sarah Palin’s foreign policy experience. “Isn’t Alaska a central front in the new Cold War? That’s foreign policy experience right there!” Kevin joked.
(snip)
Has Palin ever been to Russia? No. Has she ever demonstrated any expertise on U.S. policy towards Russia? No. Does she have any background in international relations at any level? No.
But for Republicans, the fact that she’s lived near Russia is somehow a qualification for national office.
The mind reels.
But, you see, Republicans’ standards are just not that high. Many of them are more concerned that a candidate believe in a prerequisite amount of insane batshit, and they’re not that concerned whether a candidate actually, you know, has demonstrated the ability to lead. (Don’t say something stupid about Obama’s lack of experience in the comments, either. His entire campaign has demonstrated his ability to lead, if nothing else, being as it is the most well-oiled machine in the recent history of politics.)

The McCain campaign is going to have to tell us why they bypassed the lady Sarah Palin lost Miss Alaska to in 1984.

Alaska borders Canada too! So there you go, she really has lots of experience in foreign policy.
Give me a break!

I have acquired on good terms, through acquaintances of the family that Governor Palin has frequently conversed with friends about Hugo Chavez, Musharraf, the civil and ethnic strife between Russia and Georgia, and has also displayed surprising knowledge about the World Court in The Hague and its intricacies as an international intermidiary.

Oh, do shut up.
Jesus Christ.
Her on the record statements are what matter.
I talked about childbirth today, that must mean I’m fucking pregnant.
September 9, 2008 at 5:45 am
No, what matters is that she is a vastly underrated politician and astute enough that she will be a buzzsaw on Joe Biden’s fat posterior.
September 9, 2008 at 5:50 am
Haha, okay, babydoll, and Santa is real, too.
I hope Sarah Palin does every bit as well as she did today when she answered the question about Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac and, instead of admitting that she didn’t know what the fuck she was talking about it, stuck her moose paws in her mouth and made herself look like an ABSOLUTE ass by asserting that they had become “too big of a burden on taxpayers”…hehehe, Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae, until now, were run as private companies. NOW the taxpayers are going to have to bail them out.
So yeah, I hope she keeps it up. McCain has stated that he doesn’t understand the economy as well as he should, and considering the fact that the economy is the most important thing to the American people this year…
Eek. Enjoy your convention bounce, Palin-McCain ticket. Enjoy it while it lasts. But as Obama has been saying lately, Americans simply aren’t that stupid.
September 9, 2008 at 2:16 pm
No, Palin is correct when she says that Fannie Mae is a burden upon the American taxpayer. This bailout action should have taken place 18 months ago, but the responsible American taxpayer shouldn’t have to keep bailing out irresponsible actions , like living in a home beyond one’s financial means. Actually the taxpayers have been bailing them out for a very long time. A Keynsian disciple or even a Malthus disciple would not have any trouble understanding this, and I deplore those approaches. But a nit picker or a dunce most certainly would, particularly those with an agenda of convenience against Palin.
September 9, 2008 at 3:10 pm
No, she said it had BECOME a burden, not that it was NOW.
All of you conservatives are desperately splitting hairs trying to make it look like John McCain didn’t pick the cleaning lady to be his running mate.
Economists are panning Palin’s remarks for a reaon, jackass, and your comment about irresponsible actions belies your poor understanding of the real causes of the mortgage crisis, laying it at the feet of the prey rather than the predator as you.
September 9, 2008 at 3:10 pm
as you *do.
September 9, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Which economists, pray tell, my hyperbolic foe, are you talking about? I just mentioned the disciples of Keynes and Malthus, and you might add the late, misguided Galbraith. That is only to be expected. Your arguments are like Obama’s, verbose with no substance-and that was on full display when he got his posterior handed back to him by McCain at Saddleback. You liberal jokes are both desperate and pathetic. Latest poll-McCain-Palin has a 15 point lead in Gallup. Get a life-ahole!
September 9, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Whatever. Hope you made yourself feel better.
You can say “asshole” on this blog, though. “A-hole” sounds like you’re in in 3rd grade.
As in, “I guess you don’t know how to read polls, either, asshole.”
September 9, 2008 at 4:49 pm
A 15 point lead among independent voters.
September 9, 2008 at 4:52 pm
I don’t resort to slang. My abbreviation “a-hole” is short for anus-hole, and of course that is exactly what you are. Most thinking adults don’t have to resort to slang or profanity, junior.
September 9, 2008 at 4:55 pm
No, retard.
That’s something stupid uneducated yet delusional conservatives tell themselves to deflect attention from the fact that their ideas are bankrupt in a free marketplace.
September 9, 2008 at 4:55 pm
You think you’re being original, but EVERY DUMBASS WINGNUT says it.
September 9, 2008 at 4:58 pm
But also? It allows you to perpetuate your self-inflicted stereotype that conservatives are somehow more moral than liberals, which is hilarious, since the lot of you have supported the policies of the most fucked up sociopaths of the last several decades.
September 9, 2008 at 5:16 pm
In summation, in final reply, I rest my case, because you have made my case. Good Luck.
September 9, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Hahahahaha, and that’s called “a retard letting himself win.”
Goodbye, fair snotnose.
