Ratings for Obama’s convention speech set records

Wow:

NEW YORK – Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention was seen by more than 38 million people.

Nielsen Media Research said more people watched Obama speak than watched the Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing, the final “American Idol” or the Academy Awards this year.

(snip)

Obama’s audience might be higher, since Nielsen didn’t have an estimate for how many people watched Obama on PBS or C-SPAN Thursday night.

Not to mention people who watched on the internet.

Combined with the speech itself, it begins to make sense why John McCain would take the risk of cynically nominating a resolutely unqualified but sexy vagina-haver who looks like a Cinemax porn star, and whom he had only spoken to twice before giving her the veep nod. A pathetic Hail Mary from a misogynist who called his trophy wife a cunt in front of reporters.

  1. Yes, the speech was fantastic. And SPECIFIC. The whole “here’s how change is going to happen… So…you wana debate now McCain? Bring it.” was amazing, McCain totally didn’t expec it. Totally blew up all of McCain’s stupid talking points, and now he has nothing to go on.

    Landslide. Thank God.

  2. Yep.

It was nice seeing him confront McCain directly. I knew he would at some point, and that he wouldn’t do it in a dirty way.

The difference between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin is that the former have ideas.

Sarah Palin for veep is like Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court — even people on their own side are going “WHAT THE FUCK…”

  3. Dude,

I heard the news on a Christian radio station, and they were like “what the….????” in their reporting. Total blindside. I see it as nothing more than desperation. He got spanked in Obama’s speech and he’s now trying to go for the jugular with a blade of grass, thinking it’s a dagger. What a tard.

Oh hey, also be praying for the people of LA and TX that are going to be hit by this hurricane. And if you don’t mind, keep us flyboys in your thoughts too because we’re going to be flying missions on monday and tuesday and wednesday to help with rescue efforts. I hope it all goes well. Here’s praying that we don’t have another friggen fiasco!

    Joe

  4. Palin got nearly the same and McCain beat Obama on viewship!

  5. Um, source?

    I haven’t seen that.

I know Palin got a large number.

I sincerely hope more people saw McCain’s speech because holy shit, it was pathetic.
