Rick Davis: “This election is not about issues.”

All intelligent voters recoil…NOW:

Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain’s presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.

“This election is not about issues,” said Davis. “This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”

Heh. Well, of course the McCain campaign doesn’t want to run on issues, considering the fact that John McCain and the GOP are on the wrong side of, oh, all of them. That’s why tonight was all about POWPOWPOWPOWPOW, which John McCain doesn’t like to talk about, except for when he talks about it, constantly. (Because that’s all he has. 9iu11iani has 9/11 and Jammakain has POW.)

Of course, David Plouffe responded:

In reaction to Rick Davis’ comments about the election not being about issues, Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe released the following statement: “We appreciate Senator McCain’s campaign manager finally admitting that his campaign is not in fact about the issues the American people care about, which is exactly the kind of cynical old politics people are ready to change.”

Heh.

The Republican Convention is a joke, the running mate is a running joke*, and the campaign manager is saying things like this?

November, here we come.

* Lookie, commenter, I used a homonym too!!!
